Outdoor terrace in large-format tiles

A raised terrace along the facade, extending the house outdoors. The screed poured by a previous contractor was of poor quality: we re-poured it, then laid large anthracite-grey stone-look tiles.

The project

The client wanted a proper terrace in front of the patio door: clean, durable and easy to live with, extending the house into the garden. A screed had already been poured by another contractor, but it was of poor quality. Tiling over it meant risking tiles that crack or come loose after a few winters.

What we did

Rather than hide the problem, we started again from the base: a new, solid and level screed, ready for tiling. We then laid large anthracite-grey outdoor tiles with a stone look, with fine, even joints and a clean edge along the garden.

The result

A clean, elegant terrace that suits the white facade and black window frames. Large formats mean few joints, so the surface cleans in minutes, and the new screed gives a reliable base so the tiles last.
